NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY RESEARCHERS COLLABORATE WITH SCIENTISTS WORLDWIDE, INCREASING THEIR RATE OF DISCOVERY AND CITATION.

As NAU recruits more research-active faculty to its ranks, the rate at which researchers are creating and publishing new knowledge is increasing — most notably, in the fields of climate science, astronomy and planetary science, genomics and infectious diseases.

In 2017, the World University Rankings rated NAU in the top 10 percent worldwide for the frequency of its research being cited by other researchers. NAU earned a score of 91.6 out of 100 for citations, compared to the average U.S. score of 42.4. According to the rankings publisher, the score recognizes the university’s role in spreading new knowledge and ideas; the number of times scholars cite work published by NAU indicates the influence of our university’s research.

NAU researchers are collaborating with scientists at highly ranked universities and research institutions around the globe — including the U.S., Canada, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom — contributing their expertise while bringing increased recognition to the university.
